Hi All,
Sorry I haven't updated for a bit. Detlef, Dietmar, Jennifer and Karma met with the transplant doctor on 2/6/12. The plan is to move forward with the transplant as soon as possible, hopefully prior to any more chemotherapy. Chemotherapy will only weaken Detlef's body, and make the risks for the transplant higher. Tomorrow Detlef is going in for a bone marrow biopsy to see if he is enough of a remission to go ahead with the transplant without more chemotherapy. Detlef will be sedated tomorrow because they go in and pull out bone marrow from your hip bone. Last time Detlef had this procedure done, it was extremely painful, so thankfully the doctor will have him sedated tomorrow. Karma said that it will take a few days to get the results back, but we are all hoping and praying for enough of a remission that they can do the transplant the first part of March. Please keep Detlef in your thoughts and prayers because we would love it if Detlef didn't need to undergo any more chemotherapy treatments.
Detlef has been home (Dietmar's and Jennifer's basement), and has been going in to the clinic periodically for blood tests and platelet infusions.
Love to all!
Lisa
Love you all!
